green day

 american idiot:the musical
Green Day's double platinum album, American Idiot, is being turned into a musical by Tony-award winning director Michael Mayer. Billie Joe co-wrote the book for the project, and it will follow the stories of characters in American Idiot - Jesus of Suburbia, Whatsername, St. Jimmy. Music from their new album, 21st Century Breakdown, will also be used in production, which will open September 4, and run through October 11 at the Berkeley Repertory Theater, in Berkely, CA.

The musical is also moving to Broadway, although no dates have been confirmed. Playbill.com has predicted that it will happen somewhere in "late winter, spring 2010".
